GUIDELINES FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS

-The oral sessions allocate 15 min per speaker. Ideally the presentation should take 10-12 min allowing 3-5 min questions.
- Please make sure that you have the slides and back-ups. Please send us your presentation earlier to facilitate the process, if possible. A PC with memory-stick access, speaker system, and laser pointer will be provided. If you have any specific requests, please contact us.

-Please prepare your poster on a standard A1 (594mm × 841 mm) – (23.4’’ × 33.1’’) or A0 (841mm × 1189 mm) – (33.1’’ × 46.8’’) paper in landscape or portrait format.
-Please bring the poster with you; if you wish to send it via mail, please notify us and have it delivered at least 5 days in advance.
- We must receive a 1 slide overview of your poster (at least 1 week before the workshop) to help us organize the poster briefing sessions which will take place right before the poster sessions in the TI Auditorium.

TRAVEL LOGISTICS

DSP09 Workshop will take place at University of Texas at Dallas Campus in Richardson, TX. You can take a flight to Dallas/Fort worth International Airport (DFW). From airport, you can take a shuttle to arrive at the official workshop hotel (Hyatt Hotel, Richardson, TX), which is 2 miles from the UTD Campus. For shuttle arrangements, you can use the following link:

4th BIENNIAL WORKSHOP ON DSP FOR IN-VEHICLE SYSTEMS AND SAFETY

OVERVIEW
WELCOME to 4th Biennial Workshop on DSP (Digital Signal Processing) for In-Vehicle Systems and Safety, held in Dallas, TX, USA at the University of Texas at Dallas. The workshop series presents a unique opportunity for researchers working on different branches of in-vehicle signal processing to exchange and discuss cutting edge results. It also forms a communication platform between researchers, automotive manufacturers, government foundations and legislators for road safety on future in-vehicle technologies. The workshop will feature world-class experts on road safety, in-vehicle technologies and demos of state-of-art systems. This workshop follows a series of workshops previously organized first in 2003 (Nagoya, Japan), 2005 (Sesimbra, Portugal), and 2007 (Istanbul, Turkey).

This year the workshop will be more extensive in participation from different realms such as: signal processing, control engineering, audio-video processing, human factors and transportation engineering. This meeting is intended to open doors for fruitful discussion and information exchange in an exciting interdisciplinary area. The main focus areas are listed as follows:

• DSP technologies in adaptive automobiles
• Driver status monitoring and distraction/stress detection
• In-Vehicle dialogue systems and human machine interfaces
• Challenges in video and audio processing for in-vehicle products
• Multi-sensor fusion for driver ID and robust driver monitoring
• Vehicle to Vehicle, Vehicle to Infrastructure wireless technologies
• Human factors and cognitive science in enhancing safety
• Transportation engineering venues

UTDRIVE

UTDrive is part of three-year NEDO-supported international collaboration between Japan, Italy, Singapore, Turkey, and USA.

It contains a multi-sensor platform in vehicle test-bed. Under real-traffic conditions driver's speech, videos (driver and road scene), CAN-Bus and several bio-signals are collected. This project is an open and versatile platform to address basic research on expanding the understanding of human driver behavior as well as serving as a mechatronics on-board laboratory for developing novel in-vehicle systems. Outputs and contributions of the project ranges from developing new metrics to assess driver performance to design and development of brand-new driver assistance/ active safety systems.
